About Us

Our Mission

At Pathway Pioneers, we are dedicated to empowering disengaged male students by reigniting their passion for learning and facilitating personal and academic growth. Founded by Montel Showemimo, a Clinical & Forensic Psychology specialist with years of experience working in schools, we go beyond behaviour management to tackle the root causes of disengagement.
Having worked in a pastoral role as Head of Student Engagement and alongside clinical psychologists in schools across Kent and London, Montel has developed a proven approach that empowers students to break out of negative cycles and achieve lasting success.

Our Approach

We understand that disengaged students require more than standard educational strategies. Our approach includes:

Customised Programs

Developing 6-week interventions tailored to the specific needs of each student, focusing on areas such as behaviour improvement, academic support, and social skills development.

Collaborative Partnerships

Working closely with school staff to integrate our programs seamlessly into existing curricula, ensuring consistency and support throughout the student's journey.

Expert Mentoring

Leveraging the expertise of our founder, Montel Showemimo, who brings a wealth of experience in clinical psychology, forensic psychology and the education sector to guide students effectively.

Our Impact

Through our dedicated efforts, we have achieved significant positive outcomes:

Behavioural Improvements

90% of participating students exhibit enhanced classroom behaviour and reduced disciplinary incidents.

Academic Progress

Students demonstrate notable improvements in grades and engagement with their studies.

Personal Development

Participants report increased confidence, better social interactions, and a more optimistic outlook on their educational journey.

Why Schools Choose Pathway Pioneers

Unlike traditional interventions that focus solely on behaviour management, Pathway Pioneers identifies and addresses the underlying psychological barriers preventing students from succeeding.

We go deeper than discipline

We uncover the reasons behind student disengagement, whether it’s low self-esteem, frustration, or a lack of direction.

We reduce exclusions & improve student engagement

Schools that work with us see measurable improvements in attendance, behaviour, and student motivation.

Cost-Effective

Addressing disengagement early prevents costly exclusions and alternative provisions.

Pupil Premium Alignment

Schools can use Pupil Premium funding to implement our program, ensuring no additional strain on budgets.

We rewire how students think about education

Through a structured, 6-week intervention programme, we equip students with emotional resilience, self-confidence, and the tools to navigate challenges.

Sustainable Results

We don’t just address issues temporarily—we equip students with the tools to succeed long-term.

Meet Our Founder

Montel Showemimo (BA, MSc), the founder of Pathway Pioneers, has a rich background in education and psychology. His experience starting as a behaviour and student engagement strategist followed by Assistant Head of Post 16 provided him with insights into the challenges young people face when considering life’s next steps.

“I started Pathway Pioneers because I know, firsthand, that for some students, school isn’t just difficult—it feels impossible. I’ve seen students who have been written off, dismissed as ‘disruptive,’ or labelled ‘hard to reach.’ But I also know that behind every behaviour, there’s a story—one that is often unheard. And that’s where I come in.

I have a degree in Criminology and Psychology, followed by a Master’s in Forensic Psychology. My work has always centred around understanding why people behave the way they do and, more importantly, how we can change that trajectory.

I spent two years as the Head of Student Engagement at a school in Bromley, working with some of the most disengaged students. I wasn’t just managing behaviour—I was getting to the root of it, creating real breakthroughs with students who had lost faith in themselves and the system.

After that, I worked for the NHS alongside clinical psychologists in schools across Kent, focusing on early intervention and psychological approaches to tackling behaviour and disengagement at its core. I saw the gaps in school support—not for lack of care, but because schools often don’t have the time or resources to go deeper. That’s what Pathway Pioneers is here to change.

When I left my last school, I was told: “If anyone can change these students, it’s you.”
“I haven’t been able to shake that. Students still reach out to me, years later, telling me that my work changed their lives. And that’s why I have decided to dedicate my time to create a service that looks to better support those who often feel unsupported.”

“Pathway Pioneers isn’t just about behaviour management. It’s about transforming how these students see themselves, breaking destructive cycles, and giving them the tools to thrive—not just in school, but in life.”
